Where? Bratislava, Slovakia
Visited: every once in a while
Without any doubts the store which offers the widest selection of books in foreign languages in the Slovakian capital, in fact the only bookstore in the city which specializes in foreign literature. The store currently offers a wide selection of books mainly in English, but also in German, French, Spanish or Italian. The English section contains not only fiction books from classics to the latest releases , but also a rarely (for this locality) rich stock of non-fiction books especially in the field of social sciences. The store is known for valuing it's customers and individual orders of books which are not available in the store are a common practice. Unfortunately, the bookstore doesn't keep a second-hand section and all the books are sold for regular catalogue prices. This makes it one of those places where you like to roam around, skim through the books that catch your attention, put them back in their shelf and leave. However, when you're looking for a concrete book or it happens to be the day after your payday, this is definitely the place to go...
Open since summer 2000, the bookstore is located near the center of the city in one of the less crowded streets. The interior of the store is not special in any way but you can always count on friendly and most of all well-informed staff.
